Children's Program

What's In Store For The Kids?

Kids need a place of their own where they can safely play and learn together with others their age. The goal of the Children's Program is to provide specialized services to end the cycle of violence, promote self-esteem, and provide assistance for a non-violent, peaceful environment. There are activities for pre-school children, after school tutoring for school-aged children, and a full time summer program.

The Children's Program provides parents and their children a supportive atmosphere and access to information and resources to meet children's needs.

The goals of the Care Lodge children's program are to:
- provide caring support to children while residing in emergency shelter
- assist children in developing emotional intelligence
- guide children in strengthening positive expression of thoughts and feelings
- teach and model problem-solving skills which reinforce healthy coping behaviors

Care Lodge developed a comprehensive children's program in 1990. The program continues to serve as an essential component of shelter services which allows children a safe and structured environment where they can express themselves creatively.
