Residential Aide (Part-Time)
HOURS: 20–30 hours per week, with availability for overnight, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
SUMMARY: The Shelter Advocate provides direct services to individuals in our emergency shelter, offering support, shelter oversight, crisis intervention, and client admissions. This role also includes responding to crisis hotline calls and assisting residents with daily needs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED required.
At least two years of experience in a residential setting preferred.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Strong communication and crisis intervention skills.
Ability to work within agency mission, philosophy and policies/procedures.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
Must be reliable, flexible, and able to work various shifts, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
General physical requirements include but are not limited to: bending, stooping, climbing stairs, prolonged sitting of more than 4 hours
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide compassionate support to shelter residents while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Oversee shelter operations, including client admissions and daily activities.
Answer crisis hotline calls and provide appropriate referrals and assistance.
Work collaboratively with a team while also being able to operate independently.
Ensure compliance with shelter policies and procedures.
AGENCY COMPLIANCE:
Maintains accurate and thorough documentation in a timely manner in the client database.
Adhere to the agency’s confidentiality policies, maintaining a high-level standard of confidentiality.
Report any suspicious activity or persons.
Attend and participate in agency staff meetings and trainings.
Report to work on time as scheduled.
Maintain a valid driver's license and proof of required automobile insurance.
